Employers

At CLS, we help employers create breastfeeding-friendly workplaces that honor the needs of their staff who are new moms. Our services are designed to help your employees continue breastfeeding while remaining productive and engaged at work.

Research has shown that new moms who are providing milk for their babies are less likely to miss work, have lower medical costs and health insurance claims, and are more loyal to the company.

Women make up 57% of the U.S. workforce, but many may choose not to return to work after childbirth due to the overwhelming challenge of balancing breastfeeding with their careers.

One of the most significant barriers for working mothers is the absence of a safe, private lactation space, paired with a lack of supportive systems that accommodate their needs. Supporting breastfeeding employees can help you retain your experienced employees, substantially adding to the company’s experienced workforce.

Employee Support Programs

At CLS, we offer dedicated employee support programs to uplift and empower nursing mothers returning to work. Our three packages offer Comprehensive Lactation Programs designed in alignment with the Surgeon General’s recommendations and thoughtfully tailored to meet the needs of your employees.

With virtual visits and access to personal lactation consultants, we ensure every new mom receives individualized, expert guidance wherever they are in their breastfeeding journey.

Our programs build a supportive workplace culture, helping you create informed, compassionate, and practical systems that allow breastfeeding employees to thrive both at work and at home.

Lactation Room Design

At CLS, we understand that a private, safe, and respectful space is essential for supporting nursing mothers in the workplace. We help you design and implement lactation rooms that meet both legal requirements and the real-life needs of breastfeeding employees.

According to federal law, the space provided for expressing breast milk cannot be a bathroom, must be free from intrusion, and shielded from view. Our team works directly with your organisation to ensure these standards are met while also promoting a warm, welcoming environment that supports a mom's comfort, dignity, and well-being.

Our team offers expert guidance on:

  • Selecting a dedicated, accessible location for the lactation space
  • Ensuring the room includes essentials like comfortable seating, a flat surface for the pump, an electrical outlet, and nearby access to running water
  • Providing signage and policies that protect the space and minimize disruptions
  • Offering flexible solutions for small businesses or non-traditional workplaces

With thoughtful design and expert input, your lactation room can become a meaningful expression of your organization’s support for working families — a key part of a more inclusive and equitable workplace.

Policy Design & Implementation

A supportive workplace begins with clear, compassionate, and actionable policies. Our team helps you design and implement lactation support policies that not only comply with federal and state laws but also reflect a genuine commitment to the well-being of your breastfeeding employees.

Our team helps you create policies that:

  • Meet legal standards, including the federal Break Time for Nursing Mothers law and relevant state-specific regulations.
  • Clearly outline the rights of breastfeeding employees, including access to time and a private space to pump.
  • Establish expectations for supervisors and staff to ensure respectful implementation.
  • Define procedures for requesting lactation accommodations.
  • Promote equity and inclusivity, so all nursing moms can access the support they need.

We also provide templates, staff training materials, and communication strategies to help integrate policies into workplace culture with empathy and professionalism.
